The 2005 edition of the Oscars® were produced by veteran producer Gil Cates and the first big decision made by the production team was the hiring of comedian Chris Rock to host the telecast.
The 77th Academy Award nominations were announced at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 by AMPAS President Frank Pierson and Academy Award-winner Adrien Brody.
