Cory Monteith was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 11th, 1982 and raised in Victoria, British Columbia. He was a high school dropout, making it as far as grade nine.
Like many young Canadian actors, Cory cut his teeth on the many syndicated sci-fi shows that film in and around Vancouver. His first TV role was on Stargate:Atlantis in 2004. A busy 2005 saw him with roles in the TV movie Killer Bash and on a slew of TV series like Killer Instinct, Supernatural, Smallville and Young Blades.
He didn’t slow down in 2006 either. He was in Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep with former Bachelor contestant Charlie O’Connell, had a role in Bloody Mary, did Final Destination 3 with Instant Star’s Alexz Johnson, worked on the series Whistler, and appeared in Stargate SG-1 with Richard Dean Anderson. He also landed a role in a more mainstream film, appearing with Danny DeVito, Matthew Broderick, Kristin Davis, Kristin Chenoweth and Alia Shawkat in Deck the Halls.
Monteith continued adding to his resume in 2007. He was in Hybrid with Justine Bateman, White Noise: The Light with Nathan Fillion, The Invisible with Justin Chatwin and Marcia Gay Harden, and Whisper with Josh Holloway. He also landed TV roles on Flash Gordon, Kyle XY and Kaya.
The following year, Cory was in the TV movie The Boy Next Door. After 2009’s Mistresses and The Assistants, Monteith finally landed the role that made him a pop culture icon when he portrayed Finn Hudson on the Fox series Glee.
In 2011, Cory was seen in Wannabe Macks, Monte Carlo (with Selena Gomez) and Sisters & Brothers with Dustin Milligan. He had two projects in post-production in 2013, McCanick and All the Wrong Reasons.
Monteith, who was dating Glee co-star Lea Michele, entered completed rehab for a drug problem in early 2013. On July 13th, 2013, he was found dead in a Vancoiver hotel room. He was 31.
