Rainn Dietrich Wilson was born on January 22, 1966 in Seattle, Washington. After graduating high school, Wilson attended Tuft University and the University Of Washington. He then went on to study performance at NYU’s graduate acting program. He was a member of The Acting Company and Arena Stage and performed on and off Broadway in productions like Twelfth Night, London Assurance, and The Tempest. He also co-created and directed a sketch comedy show called The New Bozena.
His first television work was seen on One Life to Live in 1997. Feature film work came his way in the form of 1999’s Galaxy Quest with Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Tony Shaloub. He then appeared in 2000’s Almost Famous with Patrick Fugit, Billy Crudup, Jason Lee and Kate Hudson, 2001’s America’s Sweethearts with Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John Cusack and Billy Crystal, and 2002’s Full Frontal which starred David Duchovny, Catherine Keener, David Hyde Pierce and Julia Roberts.
During this time, he also had guest-starring roles on shows like Charmed, Dark Angel, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. From 2003 to 2005, he appeared in the series Six Feet Under whose cast included Peter Krause, Michael C. Hall, Frances Conroy, Lauren Ambrose, Freddy RodrÃguez and Rachel Griffiths. After Six Feet Under, Wilson was then cast in the comedy hit The Office with Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak.
During his time in The Office, Wilson kept busy with roles in 2006’s My Super Ex-Girlfriend with Uma Thurman, Luke Wilson and Anna Faris, 2007’s The Last Mimzy and the critically-acclaimed comedy Juno with Elliot Page, Michael Cera, Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner.
In 2008, he starred in the comedy The Rocker.
