Robert Pattinson was born on May 13th, 1986 in London, England. Attracted to acting at an early age, Pattinson joined the prestigious Barnes Theatre Club in his teens. A production of Tess of the D’urbervilles caught the eye of an agent, who encouraged him to pursue his dreams.
His TV debut was in Germany in 2004, where he played Giselher in the Ring of the Nibelungs. U.S. audiences might have seen it titled Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King. That same year, he also played the younger version of James Purefoy’s character in Vanity Fair, which starred Reese Witherspoon. Sadly, like Kevin Costner in The Big Chill, Robert’s scenes ended up being cut.
Luckily for Pattinson, his next film was part of the biggest franchise in movie history. He played Cedric Diggory, Harry Potter’s rival, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Critics loved his performance and The Times Online bestowed a “Star of Tomorrow” award on him. He starred in the BBC Four movie The Haunted Airman in 2006 and followed that with another TV movie, The Bad Mother’s Handbook, in 2007. That year would also see him rejoin Daniel Radcliffe and the gang in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
2008 was a busy and important year in Robert’s career. He starred in The Summer House and How to Be, played Salvador DalĂ in Little Ashes and stole the hearts of girls everywhere when he played vampire Edward Cullen opposite Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan in Twilight, which was based on the popular book series. The film was a hit and Pattinson, then appeared in it’s sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In 2010, Pattinson was in Remember Me with Emilie de Ravin and Pierce Brosnan and the highly-anticipated The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
In the British press, Pattinson, and pals Tom Sturridge, Bobby Long, Marcus Foster, and Sam Bradley have been labeled the “Brit Pack” by the London tabloids as they follow them around the city’s pubs and clubs.
