Welcome to DigitalHit’s coverage of the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards taking place on February 28th, 2021. The semi-virtual ceremony will be hosted in two cities this year, with Tina Fey hosting in New York and Amy Poehler handling the emcee chores in Los Angeles.

8:00 pm

Amy and Tina discuss the issues of hosting the show in two cities and joke that the shows nominated this year include old episodes of The Office and Columbo and Zoom meetings.

“Normally, this room is full of celebrities, but tonight our audience on both coasts is made up of smoking-hot first responders and essential workers,” said Fey adding, “We are so grateful for the work that you do and that you’re here, so that the celebrities can stay safely at home.”

The pair also poked at the HFPA’s diversity issues saying that, ““The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is made up of around 90 international, no-Black journalists who attend movie junkets each year in search of a better life. We say around 90, because a couple of them might be ghosts, and it’s rumored that the German member is just a sausage that somebody drew a little face on.”
