Golden Globes ceremony replaced by press conference

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced that NBC News will be broadcasting an hour-long press conference to announce the winners of the 65 Annual Golden Globe Awards.
Since NBC News is not affected by the WGA strike, this format is the only one that could get around the fact that the WGA would picket, and SAG would boycott, the traditional telecast and champagne dinner. Dateline NBC and other NBC news programs will also show clips and party coverage on the evening.
“We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007’s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television,” said Jorge Camara, President of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. “We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year’s Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled.”
