Cate Blanchett to produce…a baby

Cate Blanchett and her husband, screenwriter Andrew Upton, are expecting their first child later this year.

“It was a wonderful surprise and we couldn’t be happier,” said the Australian-born actress in a statement Friday.

Blanchett, who received an Oscar® nomination in 1999 for her role in Elizabeth is currently working on The Shipping News with Kevin Spacey.
