Carroll O’Connor dies

Carroll O’Connor, best known for his role of Archie Bunker in the landmark 70s sitcom All in the Family is dead at age 76. He died of a heart attack brought on by complications from diabetes at the Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, CA.
Despite a career that spanned stage, screen and television, O’Connor is best known for his work in the Norman Lear series All in the Family, which premiered in January 1971. He won four Emmys for the part.
He later won another Emmy for his work in the 1980s TV series In the Heat of the Night.
