AFI Awards
Jan 05, 2002 by Ian Evans
The inaugural AFI Awards were presented this evening and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was the Movie of the Year. Denzel Washington and Sissy Spacek took home the top film acting awards while James Gandolfini and Edie Falco, both of The Sopranos, took home the top TV honors.
The awards took three hours which seemed longer due to the fact that very few of the winners were actually there to accept the awards. See our coverage.
