Red Dragon feasted at the top spot for a second week, holding the number one with $17.6 million despite a 52% drop from the weekend before.
Reese Witherspoon’s Sweet Home Alabama kept its hold on second spot, with a $14.1 million take.
Brown Sugar was the best of the new releases this week, taking third and $11.1 million. Its take was made more impressive by the fact that it only played in 1372 theatres compared to the top two flicks which only earned a few million more in over 3300 cinemas.
Fox’s action thriller The Transporter was number four with $9.2 million, while My Big Fat Greek Wedding rounded out the top five by adding another $7.9 million to its box office.
Meanwhile, Madonna and Guy Ritchie will probably not be Swept Away by the take of their new movie, which was released in a measly 196 theatres and made roughly $375,000.
