Scorpion King holds steady

The Scorpion King remained in the top spot this weekend, though its reign will probably end next weekend when Spider-Man is released.
Weekend estimates had the action flick pulling in $17.6 million, while the number two spot was once again held by the Ben Affleck/Samuel L. Jackson vehicle Changing Lanes.
These two films managed to hold off the newcomers. Angelina Jolie’s poorly-reviewed Life or Something Like It was third with an estimated $6.7 million, while fourth place went to the sat-on-a-shelf-for-two-years-should’ve-left-it-there Jason X which scared up $6.5 million in receipts.
Good news for the industry: this weekend’s box office was up 24% from last year.
