Maurice Gibb, who sang with twin Robin and old brother Barry in the Bee Gees, has died following abdominal surgery last week. He was 53.
His family issued a statement from Miami’s Mount Sinai Medical Center which said that, “His love, enthusiasm and energy for life remain an inspiration to all of us.”
Gibb had surgery for intestinal blockage on Thursday and since then has been listed in critical but stable condition.
The Bee Gees were formed in Australia in 1958 and hit the height of their fame with the soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever in the 1970s.
