Tony-winner Nell Carter dead at 54

Nell Carter, the singer-actress who made her mark on stage and TV, has dies at the age of 54.

Carter, was found by one of her sons after she collapsed in her Beverly Hills home this morning.

The star of 1980s sitcom Gimme a Break, Nell also won a Tony award in 1978 for her role in the Broadway musical Ain’t Misbehavin’.
