Denzel tops weekend

Denzel Washington had the best opening of his career this weekend as Tony Scott’s Man on Fire opened with $22.7 million. That was enough to beat the flick most pundits thought would come out on top, the Jennifer Garner comedy 13 Going on 30 which opened with $21 million.

Last week’s number one flick Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 2, dropped 59 percent from its opening, taking in $10.4 million over the weekend. The Thomas Jane/John Travolta comic book flick, The Punisher had a $6.2 million second weekend while Disney’s Home on the Range rounded out the top five with $3.5 million.
