Mean Girls beat Man

Mean Girls, penned by SNL head writer Tina Fey, took in $24.4 million in its first week, knocking the Denzel Washington actioner Man on Fire into second place with $15 million. Also knocked down a peg was the Jennifer Garner comedy 13 Going on 30 which went to third over the weekend with a $9.8 million take.
Robert De Niro’s latest, Godsend, was in fourth with $6.8 million, while Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore rounded out the top five with Laws of Attraction’s $6.7 million weekend.
