Wooly mammoth holds on to top spot

Ice Age: The Meltdown held the North American top spot for a second weekend, bringing in an estimated $34.5 million. Newcomer The Benchwarmers scored a double to second place with $20.5 million, while Antonio Banderas’ teacher-helping-troubled-youth-through-tango flick Take the Lead twirled into third with an estimated $12.8 million.
Meanwhile, Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster’s heist drama, Inside Man, stayed in the top five with a fourth place, $9.2 million weekend. Lucky Number Slevin’s lucky number was five, as in a $7.1 million fifth place debut for the film which stars Bruce Willis and Josh Hartnett.
