No Tony nod for Julia
May 16, 2006 by Ian Evans
When Julia Roberts began her Broadway run in the play Three Days of Rain, there was much speculation whether she’d get a Tony Award nomination. Along with Oprah Winfrey and her musical The Color Purple, the Tonys would have some Hollywood star power that would draw in viewers that normally ignore Broadway’s big night.
Well, the speculation ends today. While Oprah’s musical earned 11 nominations, second only to The Drowsy Chaperone’s 13, Julia’s poorly-reviewed performance earned her nothing and her co-stars,
Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper, were unlucky today too.
