The new Disney/Pixar flick Cars opened with $60.1 million this weekend, a figure a little below the $62.8 million the studio had estimated. The decline in Sunday numbers had some worried that word-of-mouth was not so strong and one investment analyst even downgraded Disney stock from “buy” to “hold.”
Meanwhile, The Break-up spent its second weekend in the second slot, with a $20.3 million haul. Comic book action flick X-Men: The Last Stand was in third with $16 million and change, while The Omen and The Da Vinci Code rounded out the top five with $16 million and $10 million weekends.
