Steve Irwin killed by stingray

Steve Irwin, the Australian TV host and environmentalist known to his fans as the “Crocodile Hunter,” died Monday after being stung by stingray. Irwin was 44.
Irwin was filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef when the incident occured. A rescue helicopter was dispatched, but Irwin died before it arrived. An ambulance service spokeman said that the cause of death was most likely a stingray strike to the chest.
Irwin is survived by his wife, Terri, and their children Bindi Sue, 8, and Bob, 3.
