Meet the Oscars
Jan 18, 2007 by Ian Evans
If you’re in LA between February 9th and February 24th, be sure to drop by the Hollywood & Highland Center to partake in the Academy’s “Meet the Oscars, Los Angeles” exhibition.
Fifty Oscars, four statuettes that belonged to a Hollywood legend, two Testimonial Awards and one statuette for the public to hold will be on display. Visitors can look at displays, get photographed holding an Oscar® and see the statuettes won by Katherine Hepburn for Morning Glory, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Lion in Winter and On Golden Pond. The Honorary Academy Award® that will be presented to composer-conductor Ennio Morricone and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to be presented to former Paramount Pictures chairman Sherry Lansing will also be on display.
The exhibition will also feature interactive “Oscar trivia” kiosks, where visitors can test their knowledge of Oscar winners, movie quotes and Academy Awards factoids.
We’ve been to previous exhibitions when we’ve attended the Oscars and they’re always amazing. “Meet the Oscars, Los Angeles” will be open Sunday to Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturday, February 24, the exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
