Madonna and Guy Ritchie to get divorced

The rumors started in the summer and now the couple has confirmed it: Madonna and Guy Ritchie are divorcing after an almost eight year marriage.

Liz Rosenberg, the music icon’s publicist, sent a joint statement to the Associated Press confirming the split and asking for “respect for their family at this difficult time.”

Besides splitting an estimated $525 million, most of which Madonna brought to the table, there is, of course, the issue of child custody.

The celebrity pair have two children together: Rocco, age 8, and David, a 3-year-old they adopted from Malawi. Madonna also has a 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes, from her relationship with personal trainer Carlos Leon.
