Joaquin Phoenix says he’s quitting acting

The other day when Joaquin Phoenix told Extra’s Jerry Penacoli that Two Lovers would be his last acting gig and he would now be a musician, Penacoli chuckled, much to the Oscar-nominated actor’s chagrin.

Well, today Phoenix’s publicist Susan Patricola (lotsa “P” last names in this story) released a statement saying that, “He has said that Two Lovers is his last. But this is not strange. Joaquin has been directing music videos and been involved in music for the last number of years.”

So is this really it for Phoenix’s acting career? Or has he just come undone?
