Snipes acquited of tax fraud

Wesley Snipes was convicted on three misdemeanor counts of failing to file a tax return, but acquitted on federal tax-fraud and conspiracy charges. He could face three years in prison.

Snipes two co-defendants, an account stripped of his license and a tax protest leader, were indicted back in 2006. Eddie Ray Kahn, the tax protestor, was not in court today and continues to argue that no court has the jurisdiction to try him.

Snipes held the belief that IRS had no legal authority to collect taxes, a belief that usually falls under the urban legend/spam email category.
