Herbie Hancock wins Album of the Year
Feb 11, 2008 by Ian Evans
Jazz artist Herbie Hancock was shocked when he heard his name called for the Grammy’s Album of the Year. Many pundits had pegged that win on Kanye West’s “Graduation” or Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” but not the veteran musician’s “River: The Joni Letters”.
Perennial sore loser West, whose been known to jump on stage when he doesn’t agree with a win, had a ceremony leading eight nods, winning four, while troubled tabloid fodder Winehouse was nominated for six and won five.
