Academy grants $50,000 to Telluride

The 2010 Telluride Film Festival will be getting a $50,000 boost thanks to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The grant will underwrite the festival’s Guest Director program, which this year features Michael Ondaatje, the novelist and screenwriter of The English Patient.

This is the third consecutive year that the Academy has funded the program. Previous guest directors have included Slavoj Zizek and Alexander Payne, the director and Oscar®-winning screenwriter of Sideways.
