SAG Awards continue going green
Jul 18, 2011 by Ian Evans
I’ve been working on some green projects lately, so this bit of news caught my eye:
Online Submissions Encouraged for 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® Nominations.
Turns out the folks at the Screen Actors Guild Awards are not only encouraging actors, publicists and managers to submit performances for nomination consideration online, they’ll stop accepting paper submission after the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will take place on Sunday, January 29, 2012.
This isn’t the first time that the SAG Awards have gone green. In 2009 and 2010, the organization was honored with the Environmental Media Association (EMA)’s Green Seal, which recognizes a production’s outstanding efforts to implement sustainable initiatives and promote environmental awareness. Their history of Internet usage I can attest to first-hand. While we were still filling out paper applications for covering the other awards shows, I don’t think I’ve ever done anything but an online application for SAG Awards press credentials.
So kudos to the continued green efforts of the SAG Awards. And while I’ve got ya here, please check out our newly re-launched SAG Awards Coverage Hub.
