Feb 27, 2012 by Ian Evans
The Artist had a great night at the 84th Annual Academy Awards as the silent film homage took home Best Picture and four other awards on Hollywood’s big night.
The ceremony, hosted for a ninth time by Billy Crystal, saw The Artist walk off with Best Picture, Best Directing (Michel Hazanavicius), Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jean Dujardin), Best Costume Design (Mark Bridges) and Best Original Score (Ludovic Bource).
Martin Scorsese’s Hugo also won five Oscars in the craft categories.
Meryl Streep won her third Oscar for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.
