Lin-Manuel Miranda announces departure from Hamilton

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of the Tony-winning musical Hamilton held a press conference today to announce that he’ll be leaving the cast of the mega-hit. Miranda’s alternate, Javier Muñoz, will take on the role full-time starting July 11th.

Miranda also announced that they’ll be releasing a project call The Hamilton Mixtape, which will feature songs that didn’t make it to the final production as well as covers of the show’s songs by various artists. Seeing as there is an insatiable appetite for all things Hamilton, PBS’ Great Performances will also have a doc on the show which will air starting October 17, 2016.
