The 26th Toronto International Film Festival has added three more films to its gala line-up.
Director Antoine Fuqua?s Training Day will receive its North American premiere as a Gala presentation. The film stars Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Scott Glenn, Tom Berenger, Cliff Curtis, as well as recording artists Dr. Dre, Macy Gray, and Snoop Dogg. In the film, L.A.P.D. veteran detective Alonzo Harris (Denzel Washington) tests the resolve of idealistic beat cop Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke), who has one day, and one day only, to prove himself to his superior.
The North American premiere of Mira Nair?s (Salaam Bombay!) Monsoon Wedding will also get the Gala treatment. An humourous family drama, it celebrates different aspects of love as they cross boundaries of class, continent, and morality. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Lillete Dubey, Vasundhara Das, Vijay Raaz, Tilotama Shome, Shefali Shetty, Parvin Dabas, Neha Dubey, and Randeep Hooda.
The third gala announced today is From Hell, directed by The Hughes Brothers. It looks at the Jack the Ripper story and stars Johnny Depp, Heather Graham, Ian Holm, and Robbie Coltrane.
