Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven to open TIFF 2016.

Antonine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven will be opening the 41st edition of the celebrated Toronto International Film festival. The 2016 edition of the filmgoer’s paradise runs from September 8th to the 18th.
The film stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Haley Bennett and Peter Sarsgaard. The remake takes us to the town of Rose Creek which is under the deadly control of industrialist. The citizens of the town hire seven mercenaries to try an get their town back.
TIFF CEO and Director Piers Handling said that, “We are pleased to welcome acclaimed filmmaker Antoine Fuqua back to the Festival, and have been proud to present audiences
with his feature films including Training Day and The Equalizer. Fuqua has delivered an exciting character-driven film on a grand scale, while putting his own unique spin on the genre making for a thrilling opening night.”
The festival’s Artistic Director, Cameron Bailey, added that “Fuqua’s ability to effortlessly blend visceral action and the emotion of drama is what makes him such a compelling storyteller, and this film is no exception.”
