The July 4 holiday weekend belonged to Men in Black 2.
The alien-infested sequel did about $54.1 million in the Friday-Sunday period and did over $90 million since its opening Wednesday. It broke the previous July 4 weekend number held by the first Men in Black flick.
Adam Sandler’s Mr. Deeds dropped about 49% to a $18.8 million second place, while Bow Wow’s Like Mike netted about $13 million over the Friday-Sunday period. Meanwhile, The Powerpuff Girls only made it as high as ninth with a $3.5 million weekend.
Lilo & Stitch ($12.7 million) and Minority Report ($12.4 million) rounded out the top five.
