Welcome to our coverage of the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards which took place on January 27th, 2019. The ceremony was hosted by Will & Grace actress Megan Mullally.

A collection of actors, including Mike Myers, Geoffrey Owens, Yara Shahidi and Megan Mullally introduce us to how they started in the business.

Megan welcomes us to the show. “Winning an Actor is the greatest thing that can happen to an actor this weekend.”
“In 2018, Hollywood did a few things right. Like casting black actors in Black Panther, Asian actors in Crazy Rich Asians and a green book in Green Book.”

Tonight’s first presenter is Alec Baldwin. Alec is presenting with Megan and handing out the statuette for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. And the Actor goes to Tony Shalhoub for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
“I just want to start by saying that the greatest honor of my life is to be nominated in the same category with Alan Arkin, who has long been an idol of mine, and I am happy to say that a friend, but I think he was the reason that I wanted to become an actor in the first place.” – Tony Shalhoub

Chris Pine, looking like Colonel Sanders in a white suit, strolls out to present Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. And the Actor goes to Emily Blunt for A Quiet Place. Her husband (and director) John Krasinski whoops and hollers as she wins.
“I’m going to share this completely with my husband, John Krasinski, who…because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly. You are a stunning filmmaker. I am so lucky to be with you and to have done this film with you. Thank you for giving me the part. You would have been in major trouble if you hadn’t, so you didn’t really have an option, but thank you.” – Emily Blunt

She ended her acceptance speech by saying “Oh, thank you, Robert Mueller, and everyone working to make sure that we have sovereignty for the United States of America.”

It’s now time for Tom Hanks to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to the wonderful, legendary and simply great Alan Alda. After a clip package of his great career he takes to the stage to a thunderous ovation.

Megan Mullally gets served a drink by her butler. He then introduces Awkwafina and Laverne Cox, who are presenting Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. And the Actor goes to Jason Bateman, his first win in eight nominations.
