42nd Toronto International Film Festival Coverage: Day Ten
Saturday, September 16th, 2017 by Ian Evans
For all intents and purposes it’s the last day of the Festival. Yes, day eleven has the free screening for the winner of the Grolsch People’s Choice Award. Yes, there are other screenings tomorrow. But today’s the day with the final gala, directing duo Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano’s C’est la vie!, which stars Jean-Pierre Bacri in the comic tale of a battle-weary wedding planner whose one final wedding will be a night to remember…possibly for all the wrong reasons.
When it was announced back in July that C’est la vie! would close the Festival, Piers Handling, the Festival’s Director and CEO said that, “The filmmakers have truly captured the love, laughter, and often chaos that goes into planning our most important milestones, giving audiences a unique point of view to what our lives could look like to people from the outside.”
Actress Suzanne Clément said that it was a great film to close TIFF because it features a diverse cast and looks at human connections, much like the Festival itself.
And that’s it for another Toronto International Film Festival. Tomorrow we’ll have a look to see which films won awards.
